Our New Headquarters
In early 2004 the board of ACLEDA Bank approved an investment in a new Headquarters building to replace the existing one on Mao Tse Tung Boulevard which had become too small for the purpose and did not meet modern working or safety standards. A block of land of approximately 4,550m2 on a prestigious section of Monivong Boulevard was purchased close to the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Municipality, principal embassies and hotels.
The highly regarded firm of BKAsia Pacific was appointed as Project Manager and in September a design competition was held which attracted entries from architects from Cambodia, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Thailand and UK. After considerable deliberation the internationally renowned Bangkok based team of Chuchawal-de Weger/Design 103, both members of the Royal Haskoning Group of the Netherlands, was selected and work on site preparation commenced in February this year.
The new building, which is expected to cost in excess of US$5.5 million, will afford 6,800m2 of working space including an elegant atrium banking hall with a public area of over 500m2. Parking space for 168 vehicles will be provided for in a separate car park at the rear and provision for the protection of customers handling large sums of cash has been included. Construction and design will be to the highest international standards with special attention paid to security, fire protection, energy conservation and occupational health and safety. The special needs of the physically handicapped have also been planned for and separate facilities for money exchange, Western Union and 24-hour ATM access will be provided.
Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Management
ACLEDA Bank is conscious of the fact that in all organizations and businesses there is the possibility that accidents may occur particularly during the construction period. Accidents while working arise from many causes i.e. unsafe working practises and an unsafe environment. However, the impacts of accidents can be minimized or prevented by efficient Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Management.
The objective of having occupational health and safety management is to prevent losses and to minimize the degree of losses from accidents to workers, company assets and the environment.
ACLEDA Bank has appointed a full-time professional safety officer from Royal Haskoning to supervise safety standards and procedures on the building site and submit monthly reports to the bank.
